Plans and Saboteurs
She was first among equals.
The first lady to outclass and outscore every male and female student in a university
The first female student to have a perfect CGPA
On the day of her graduation, she received 45 awards, seven scholarship offers, and fourteen job offers
She was Orion, the unicorn star that many had rumoured existed, but none had truly seen or known.
She was also beautiful, and she has a very robust social life and spiritual devotion that is shocking to many.
It was believed in their time that someone who parties cannot be an academic genius
She destroyed that myth completely.
Her lover was a 24-year-old PHD holder who lectures in the Department of Agriculture
They met at the post-graduate school
She went there to make some enquiries on behalf of a relative about admission processes, and he came there to get his transcripts
He saw her standing at the reception, walked up to her, and said, "Do you believe in dreams?"
He was a bespectacled, handsome, and had the intensity of a child with a determination to tell a story
She nodded while locking her eyes with his.
He said, "I saw you in my dreams yesterday, we were walking down the aisle at a wedding. I am not sure if we are the ones getting married or if we were part of the groomsmen and bridesmaids' train, but we were together at So and so church.
She laughed and said, "It is possible."
He said, "How?"
She pointed at the billboard outside the PG school.
It took him a few seconds before it dawned on him
Her face was on almost all the official billboards of the University
He must have seen her a million times, since he was a lecturer on campus.
They belonged to different faculties, and ideally, their paths might not have ever crossed, but for the odd meeting they were having that morning
He said, "Oh, I see!"
He stopped being a chatterbox afterwards
She did her business, nodded her head in his direction, and left.
Two years later, she was one of the bridesmaids for her cousin's wedding at the Anglican church on campus, and it turned out he was one of the groomsmen for the same wedding
They walked side by side in the train as they escorted the couple to the reception
He came to her and said, "Do you believe we have a future together now?"
She had to nod her head and smile
They got married a year later.
The quiet, introspective, and almost anti-social professor married the social butterfly and genius.
Children didn't come immediately, but they eventually came
The first was a boy
She had planned out the lives of her children
He was going to be a PhD holder like his father at the age of 21, and so will his sister
She was determined to make her two children geniuses who would carry on the legacy of the family
To this end, she convinced her husband to relocate the whole family to the USA
He did it
They settled in Missouri
She immediately secured a job and started homeschooling her children at the same time
It was all going to plan perfectly until something she couldn't expect happened
Her son started displaying signs of aggression and violence
He was neither abused nor bullied by anyone
He had both his parents with him, and the atmosphere was full of love, laughter, and music
He was not exposed to racial discrimination or any form of injustice
They lived on a ranch, and she paid attention to every detail of their lives and social interactions
The boy was like her husband. Quiet, reserved, introverted, brilliant, and driven
When his score is perfect, he sometimes would crack a smile, but if he fell in anyway short of perfection, he would lash out violently and destructively at everyone around him.
His younger sister was a dullard
She simply refused to apply herself or her mind to anything academic in nature
If she were not so fastidious about her affairs, she could have sworn that the two children she was raising were switched at the hospital, and the children she was raising were given birth to by strangers.
All her bold plans for the future went down the drain.
Her son turned out to be psychologically disturbed, while her daughter was saddled with a below-average IQ.
She battled with what to do with them for a while before her husband suggested that they return to Nigeria, before the "freedom" America offers would consume their son and grant him a life sentence in prison.
Seventeen years after they relocated, they returned to Nigeria
Three years later, her daughter got pregnant at the age of fifteen
Her son managed to graduate from the university at the age of 26
He studied medicine
It was supposed to be a success story, but his cabinet was full of all sorts of medicines, and his life was a mess
No hospital would ever offer him a job
Even though she had set some money apart to build a clinic for him, she was afraid that doing so would only ruin his life or turn him into a serial killer who would hide behind being a doctor to kill people for fun
She could see all the signs
He couldn't live with a woman or hold on to a relationship
Everything was wrong, and she wondered why all the time.
Was this the effect of the popular "village" people or "Attack from Father's house?"
Was it as a result of a bad gene?
She needed to fix it, but how?
Her husband told her to keep away from religious folks, promising to conduct deliverance and other kinds of prayers for their son
Both of them were sure they would only get exploited due to their desperation
She, however, felt she needed to do something
She reached out to The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt on X
It was a DM
She asked if they could meet because she wanted to share some troubles, she had been going through with him
He told her he was out of the country and wouldn't be back for several weeks
He encouraged her to send a voice note on WhatsApp
She did
He replied by asking her to enroll her son in an online school
He said, "If you can encourage him to attend classes and participate in every activity without fail, I guarantee that he will change."
He encouraged her and her daughter to join too, he said, "So that you can know what he is listening to and discuss it among yourselves in your free time as a family."
The family joined PSSBC in September 2022.
There are several theories about the impact of the Word of God when it is taught and heard under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
The truth sets all who hear it free only when they embrace it as the truth.
When the truth is not embraced, it leaves those who hear it immune to it, and this digs them deeper into ignorance.
Week four after joining PSSBC, the young man suddenly told his parents, while they were having a meal, that he had been repeatedly sexually abused by a trusted religious figure while they were living in America.
He said it started when he went to Nature camp at the age of 13, and the man told him that if he ever mentioned it to anybody, he would see to it that he and his parents were deported from the USA.
He said it happened consistently until his parents decided to relocate them back to Nigeria when he was seventeen.
His parents were shocked
The appropriate authorities were contacted, and the perpetrator was arrested
Other victims came out with hard evidence to support the claims of the young man
The perpetrator also confessed to the crime and asked those he abused to forgive him
The mother was shocked that she didn't see the signs.
She said she felt nothing could happen to her children that they would not tell her.
It was shocking to her that such a thing happened right under her nose; she hadn't seen it, and her son hadn't mentioned it either.
The confession marked the beginning of a healing process that has helped the young man emerge from his shell of misery.
By December 2023, the parents were thanking God for giving them a brand-new son full of life and confidence.
The confession marked the beginning of a healing process that has helped the young man emerge from his shell of misery.
The transformation in three years has been glorious
PS: Dr D got his first job in the UK as a public health officer after completing his studies and obtaining his license.
He is in a relationship with Sister Simisola (closely monitored by loved ones at the moment, but the relationship has been on for eight months, and he has shown no signs of violence or emotional instability of any kind)
His sister recently got married to the father of her children in Ghana
His parents were shocked at the impact the word of God had had on their family
God brought the family out of a very dark and turbulent season into a place of rest and calm
They sponsored forty other students for the PSSBC session of January 2026 based on the impact the class has on the life of their son and the whole family.
Glory be to God.
