The Victory The Overcomes The World

The Victory The Overcomes The World

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).

The Apostle John wasn’t prophesying; he was affirming the life we have in Christ; a life of dominion over satan, the world, and its systems. The Christian is unconquerable; he’s a victor on every count; he’s born into the glory-life, and could never fail.

Read Jesus’ assertion about your impregnable and invincible nature—your authority and dominion in Him: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19). In Mark 16:18, He said you shall tread upon serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it’ll have no effect on you. This means you can’t be poisoned.

What a life!

He overcame the world and gave us the victory, the power to subdue this world. That’s what John affirms in our opening verse. The word, “overcometh” means to have victory over, to subdue, conquer, and to prevail over. You’ve subdued, tamed and conquered the elements of this world; the circumstances of life; therefore, walk in dominion over them.

The Word doesn’t say, “You’ll overcome if you pray hard enough”; the only criterion is to be born of God and you automatically have power over every crisis, and dominion over circumstances. Distressing situations may come from the enemy—the devil, but be unruffled; in Christ you’ve already been made victorious. 2 Corinthians 2:14 says, “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ….”

Never wonder or be baffled by the trials, temptations or challenges that may come your way; in the midst of them all, you’ll always win: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). You have to come to this realization; train and develop yourself in this consciousness.

The Lord Jesus Christ has the dominion over all things, including men, angels, and demons; things in heaven, on earth and under the earth are subject to Jesus, and must obey His voice. As His representatives and ambassadors here on earth, He has in turn given us dominion over all things. He exercises His authority today through us—His Church—which is His body.

Ephesians 1:21, talking about the resurrected Christ, tells us that He’s seated in the heavenly realms, _*“Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age {and} in this world, but also in the age {and} the world which are to come”*_ (AMPC). Here, the word “rule,” means two things: first, it means the authority that governs, and secondly, it means the decrees by which they govern. It refers to rulership and its rules. So, it makes no difference what rule has been made, Jesus is far above all rule. Notice that He’s set, not just above, or near above, but FAR above all rule. Hallelujah!

And then Philippians 2:9-11 says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” The Church really hasn’t used the Name of Jesus as it ought to. That Name opens every door. In His Name, you have power to cast out devils, tame the forces of nature, and mobilise angels to minister for you.

Christ has brought us into a life of extraordinary dominion. We’re not victims, but victors in this world. The Bible says, _*“…as he is, so are we in this world”*_ (1 John 4:17). We function in His stead. He gave us the right, the power of attorney to act in His place! Whatever you declare in His Name, He makes it happen. Stop crying and begging God to do something about your case. Use the Name of Jesus! Exercise dominion over the circumstances of your life today, and always be victorious.

Yet when we are among the full-grown (spiritually mature Christians who are ripe in understanding), we do impart a [higher] wisdom (the knowledge of the divine plan previously hidden); but it is indeed not a wisdom of this present age or of this world nor of the leaders and rulers of this age, who are being brought to nothing and are doomed to pass away (1 Corinthians 2:6 AMPC).

The rulers of this age are being brought to nothing, and this isn’t something that God is doing from heaven. Rather, it’s happening through us, through the authority He’s given to the Church. We’re His battle axe and weapons of war, enforcing His will on earth with the authority vested in us.

therefore when you talk about the evil forces of this world, the principalities of darkness and their works, affirm what the word says about them; “they are brought to nothing”. The greater one lives in you and His authority is supreme over all the powers of this world. Wwe are in the church age and the church has dominion

The Lord Jesus gave us the authority; He said in Matthew 28:18-20, “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

We’ve been empowered by the One who has all power in heaven and in the earth. So, in His Name, we tame situations, discipline circumstances and enforce the will of God in the earth. Our words are by the Spirit of God; therefore, they prevail in the lives of men and in the nations of the earth. Blessed be God! The Church will continue to reign gloriously, exercising dominion over the adversary and his works until the Rapture. Isaiah 9:7 says, “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” Hallelujah!
