She had seen all sorts
Miracle workers from the realm of magic
Miracle workers from the pit of hell
She was once given a live tortoise to tie to her tummy for three days
She did it
Her desperation demanded bravery
She was once bathed in the sea at 4AM in the morning
She was told to hold two coconuts, one in each hand while the "Prophet" did all sorts to her body
Desperation pays no heed to decency
She just wanted to have a baby
Thirteen years of barrenness and shame was more than a strong motivation
She had seen medical experts from all over the world
Money had never been a problem
The verdict was the same 
She was born with a genetic disorder
She can never ever have children
That verdict for her was a death sentence
Her parents had only her
Her Father died when she was still a teenager and her mother raised her alone
The wealth of the family was passed down to her when her mother died
On her death bed, the cry of her mother was that her father's memory must be preserved
"Marry early and have many children, make your father's name great"
That was her mother's last charge!
She had known no peace since then
She wanted to fulfil her mother's wishes
Give birth to male and female children that would bear her Father's name
To this end she applied for In-vitro-fertilization (IVF) while she was studying abroad
She had the cash to pay and she selected the best available seeds
It was while they were preparing her for the process that the problem was discovered
The doctors said it will be a waste of time and energy
She couldn't believe it
Why didn't they do the process first and see if it would take?
They declined!
From dreaming of twins and triplets
She was left clutching at straws
She left the clinic for another one
She went to see the specialist, the best of the best
Certain artificial enzymes were prescribed
The treatment was very expensive
She paid and subjected herself to their full treatment
The process took six months
It failed woefully
She had to swallow her pride and return home
That was when she decided to consider the traditional channels
A man who could get her pregnant!
She was offered the option of adoption
She was not altogether against the idea
She had decided not to consider it until she was in her fifties and had no realistic hope of being a mother
Nothing worked!
Herbs, concoctions, candles, fragrances
She swallowed boiled eggs, raw eggs, pigeon eggs even black eggs
At a point she got so desperate, she even asked for demonic babies
She just wanted the satisfaction of being pregnant even if for only a few months
It didn't happen!
Some people cry of miscarriages
At least they were pregnant for a period of time
She had never been pregnant, not even for one minute
She started the journey at the age of 25
By the time she was 35 she fell into depression
Perhaps it was the effect of the places she had been and the series of disappointments
Perhaps it was because she was beginning to come to terms with her barrenness
Perhaps it was some of the things she had seen and eaten out of desperation
She started having strange night terrors
The night terrors were so terrible that she was afraid to sleep at night and even during the day
Everything went downhill from there
She lost interest in everything
Day after day, she would lock herself in her room and cry her eyes out
Her house girls and friends tried all they could to help her snap out of the mood
The more they tried, the more she grew worse
They eventually got her committed to a hospital
They called it an intervention
She hated all of them for it!
She spent six weeks in the hospital, she hated it more by the day
But she got better
The depression lifted gradually and she found joy in other things again
When she was discharged, she told her best friend
"I will end up killing myself one day, I have nothing to live for"
Her friend tried to reason with her
"You have everything many would die to have
You are rich, you are famous and you are healthy
You will have a baby sooner or later
Why dont you just get married?
You are sweating over your inability to get pregnant while you refused to get married
You had sex with whoever you fancy once or twice a week
And you were hoping one of them would get you pregnant!
What if you got an STD?
What if you destroyed your body with a sickness before your day of joy?
This lifestyle has failed you, you need to change it
Clean up your acts, get yourself a husband, it will help you tremendously
This feeling of owning nobody and not being owned by anybody will lift
You will feel responsible to somebody and you will love the person
The person gets to share this burden with you
If you get yourself a good man, you will live a very happy life"
She had never considered marriage as an option
She wanted her children to bear her father's name 
She wanted her children to be hers alone
She decided to tow that line
The very next day she got into the dating game 
She had never been in want of admirers
It was her choice to limit them to one night stands only
She didn't want to fall into the hand a gold digger
As a desperate woman, she knew what desperate people can do
She chatted up one of her long time admirer the next day
He was a lawyer and also from a very prominent family
They had done some NGO projects together in the past
He teased her as usual but instead of saying "NO" affectionately
She invited him to dinner
They started seeing each other exclusively
Within six months, he was talking marriage
She told him her challenge, her "baby" hurdle
He laughed it off, told her they could always adopt
She knew he meant it!
He was trained abroad and had a very "abroad" brain
Unlike many men from her own country who would desperately spread their 
seeds everywhere waiting for the one that will germinate
He could cheat on her but it wouldn't be because he was looking for a baby!
They got married one year later
It was a glorious ceremony
Somehow she started going to church again
Not really because she wanted to but because of him
He was a churchy kinda guy!
One sunday, a guest minister came to their church
He ministered so well that the gospel became very clear to her
An altar call was made and she gave her life to Jesus
She was given a card to fill
After the service, the minister met with those of them who came out for the altar call
He prayed for them one by one
When he got to her, he congratulated her and asked her for what she would like God to do for her
She told him she wanted a baby
He smiled and told her to jump as high as she could three times
It was ridiculous
She wanted to protest but he had this steely look in his eyes
As if he was expecting her to challenge him
She took off her high heeled shoes and One! Two!! Three!!!
Everything stopped!
It was as if she was suspended between the heaven and the earth
She could see herself rolling on the floor but she was still suspended mid air
Then she saw them come onto the hall
As they walked towards her, all the other people standing beside the minister fell on their knees
They had human forms wearing a form of light
One of them touched her and removed her womb
The other touched her and removed her bone marrow from her left thigh
The third put another bone marrow in her thigh with one hand and a new womb in her with the other hand
The three of them breathed on her
She screamed awake
Goose pimples covered her from head to toe
She was still shivering as they helped her to her feet
She went home that day practically carrying her baby
She knew she was now a mother
She was full of joy from within her core
When her husband hit the spot, she cried for joy
It wasn't up to him or her anymore
Sexual pleasures mean nothing to her
She had gotten the greatest joy of all!
Nine months later, she delivered a set of twin boys
She named them Samuel and David!

Curses and illnesses are a reality
The name of Jesus and the Word of God are also a reality
You walk in the reality of your choice
If you respond to His word with Faith, it will change your reality
This event happened in Victoria Garden City, Lagos
Samuel and David are three years old today
I send the Word of God to you now in the name of Jesus
