Pulpit Pelting
I have always been against every kind of seed sowing that requires that the man of God would hold a microphone and cunningly or tacitly manipulate people to give to him.
It is true that Isaac asked Esau to cook him venison so that he could get blessed but the relationship between most of these men of God and those they usually ask to sow seeds into their grace and anointing is not that of a father to a son.
They are more like hirelings when the context is put in its true perspective
They usually do not do this give me thing in their own church
They usually do it in another pastor’s church where they have been invited to minister.
This does not mean I do not believe in honouring Men of God by giving them gifts.
It is one of the cardinal points of blessings for me and GSWMI as we do what we call Honour Code every year in the month of May.
We identify a man of God in the place of prayer, and we pray for him and his ministry for that month.
We also give whatever we can to support the person and his ministry anonymously
I do not and will never fall for “tap into my anointing teaching” and I will not and never will demand that anybody give me anything in order to tap into any grace.
Believers are anointed in Christ and only those who don’t know this assume that there is something missing in their lives that they ought to pay extra money for.
I am however not on the side of publicly shaming ministers of the gospel by plastering their ministrations online in the name of calling them out.
We must not assume we know all the dimensions of the spirit, and we cannot say some of them were not moved by the Holy Spirit to minister the way they did.
One should be weary of subjecting the Holy Spirit to ridicule in the name of calling out a servant of God who we deemed to have crossed the line by demanding that people sow seed into his life or his ministry.
We should intensify the teaching of the gospel to all and sundry so that Christian folks would stop seeking for shortcuts from “anointed ministers of the gospel”
I have seen the “sow a seed” gimmick fail in churches where the pastor had taught his members the principles of the word of God in its true spirit and reality.
I have also been invited to minister in churches and before mounting the altar, the pastor whispered in my ears that I should raise funds by every means possible for the building project they were doing because his members are stingy and were not giving.
This has happened several times with different parishes of different denominations.
As I rule, I never raise funds from the altar, and I never climb the altar with money in my pocket.
I drop my wallet and empty my pockets before climbing the pulpit as a reminder that the word of God is the only currency that I will be distributing and multiplying in that service.
What I do is write a cheque from my pocket for the church building project or whatever project they were doing to encourage the pastor.
The flock of Christ are not to be fleeced
Jesus told Peter to tend his lamb and feed his sheep
He didn’t tell him to make lamb chops out of the flock.
The internet never forgets, and it can cast someone in the wrong light by capturing a moment and making it seem as if what we see in that moment is the norm.
A friend sent me the video of a man of God praying over Jewish prayer shawls at Benny Hinn’s programme.
I have heard this man of God preaching many times and I know he is against material mediums like anointing oil, prayer shawls, mantles and so on.
How come he was doing what he so clearly taught in public was wrong?
I had to go find the full video and, in that video, (on YouTube) I saw that the man had finished preaching and conceded the pulpit to Pastor Benny.
It was Pastor Benny who started blessing those materials and then gave the microphone to this MoG in the middle of prayer and asked him to bless them too.
He was sandbagged into doing it, but my friend didn’t see that.
He just saw a gotcha moment!
