She went to the meeting with one purpose
She must teach the new pastor a lesson
He was posted to the church and he was flexing muscle
Where was he when she and other members were building the church?
Where was he when they fasted and prayed over the land
The land the church was built on was an occultic land
A lot of sacrifices and demonic totems were buried on the land
When the church came to their community, 
her family was the first to accommodate the church 
The missionary they sent to the community was living a few buildings away from them
He would come into her provisions store buy some groceries for himself
They became friends and he told her his purpose in that community
He was sent to plant a church and lead the community to Christ
She told her husband immediately 
They were very vibrant members of a church before they moved to their own property
Their property was located right in the heart of a developing estate
There was no church in the community
They had to drive two hours to and from the city on Sundays for service
Her husband took an interest in the missionary
They allowed him to start a house fellowship in their house
The missionary was very vibrant and anointed
The house fellowship grew fast
Within a year they had over 100 members
It got to a point when house fellowship would last for as long as three hours
After the main fellowship had closed within an hour
The missionary would still be meeting and counselling people for hours
The house fellowship members contributed heavily towards buying land and building a church
It was her husband who went to meet the land agents and sellers
It was her husband who negotiated for the land
When the land agents sold them the accursed land, it was her husband who took up the case
If not because the church decided not to allow the legal matter to drag out unnecessarily
Her husband was prepared to spend all he had to get justice for the church
For months after they got the land, they couldn't build
The labourers that got the job kept getting sick and afflicted
It was at that point that the church decided to raise a prayer team
She was the very first volunteer 
They fasted for twenty one days
They did another twenty one days vigil
Suddenly the leader of the cult that had sworn that land would never be occupied by a church died
The next in line to him died the following day
The third in the line of succession died the day after that
The other members started renouncing their membership
Afraid death was targeting only the leaders
This was how the yoke of the cult was broken and they were able to build the church
The fame of the church and the power of God had spread abroad
Many people heard how the cult leaders died like chickens and their membership swelled
By the time they dedicated the church building
The membership had swelled to more than five hundred
The justle for who is who began
The pastor needed to choose a board
Her husband made the list, other prominent people made the list too
She didn't make the list and this hurt her greatly
Then the pastor said there will be a workers training
She was the first to enrol
The workers training lasted for thirteen Sundays
She wrote the examination and came out in flying colours
The workers were then divided into the departments of the church
She chose the prayer department because of what she has seen prayer do
It was very empowering to be able to pray and see results
Especially the kind of result they recorded in their war against the cultists
It was very true that she coveted a leadership position in the church
Secondly, the prayer team of the church had become very popular
Members of the prayer team enjoyed a special reverence by many church members
She liked being useful to God in such an important office
The only problem she had was despite praying for many years
She had not been able to pray in tongues
She grew up in a denomination where 
praying in the spirit is reserved for the prophets
The prophets wear special clothes for the purpose of identification
Some of them who were children at the time 
were warned never to mimic the prophets
It was a sin against the Holy Spirit to mimic "tongues"
That was the sin Jesus said will never be forgiven
Though she coveted praying in the spirit badly
She didn't have the confidence to do so
And despite marrying into a pentecostal church 
and seeing the Holy Spirit moving in a new way
The fear of offending the Holy Spirit 
prevented her from praying in the spirit
She had made enquiries from the prophets when she was younger
And she was sure they couldn't have been 
faking jumping on one leg for several minutes
Colliding with everything they can see and 
not see in the church while possessed by the spirit
Telling people their past, present and future while jumping about
Providing solutions to spiritual and physical problems while in the spirit
Sometimes going into a trance for several days without food and water
A whole lot of other strange things
She had been told that human power couldn't do any of the things she saw
She knew for a fact that human power couldn't do spiritual things
She had waited for the spirit to jump upon her several times
To possess her and make her jump, hop and speak forth in a trance
In the pentecostal church the spirit seemed calmer
Those who have it seemed able to summon it at will and speak its language
Though prophecies were scarce and almost discouraged
Speaking in tongues was prevalent and allowed
She desperately wanted to be the one to lead the prayer department
The pastor had been the leader while they were an house fellowship
But now that the building was done, he would have to choose a leader
But how could a fervent, passionate and zealous woman lead the prayer
Team especially without the ability to speak in tongues!
She went to see the Pastor that evening
The pastor told her she was qualified to lead but the position was a sensitive one
Only a spirit filled believer will be given the sceptre of authority to lead the team
He told her to pray
He promised her if she received the baptism of the Holy Spirit within three days
He would choose her to head the prayer department
Otherwise, he would have to pray and choose someone else
She decided to take it as a challenge
She would have fasted and prayed and pleaded
But she had tried that option so many times before
She decided to seek for counsel
How could she get filled with the Holy Spirit?
She went to see her mother
Her mother was a prophetess with her former church
She told her mother the problem
Her mother explained to her that the spirit can be invoked into a willing agent
Her mother washed her face with some water while reading a portion of the Bible
That night, she took the egg and coconut her mother gave her
Blended them together with some milk and drank everything
During service the following day, the spirit came down mightily
She wasn't only speaking in tongues, she was prophesying!
Everything she said was on point
She was announced as the head of the prayer team the following Sunday
She was indeed a mighty instrument in the church
Many people came to the church to see her and many of them became members
Sometimes people come to see her at home
She was the unofficial voice of God in the church
Her prophecies were second only to the Bible and Pastor's sermon
She was the one that prophesied that the pastor would be transferred and it was so
Then the new pastor came and as soon as she started prophesying during the service
He told her to shut up!
What! 
It was the most embarrassing day of her life!
She fumed as service continued that morning
She went home afterwards and stayed away from church for the next three weeks
Some members of the prayer team who were loyal to her 
Came to inform her that there will be a send forth service for the former pastor
She decided she would attend and when they give her the microphone to speak
She would lambaste the new pastor and put him in his place
Does he know who he was dealing with?
Embarrassing her like that in front of the whole church
She was no longer a child in the things of the spirit
As things stood, she could even start her own church
She got to the service a little late
She made sure people had assembled and eyes were closed in worship
she walked in, closed her eyes and joined the congregation in prayer
Even though her eyes were closed, she was rehearsing what she would say
She was ready for the war ahead
Then she heard the "strange" tongues
Somebody was praying into the microphone and the tongues was making her uneasy
The whole church was silent
Eyes closed, hands lifted high
The person started singing in tongues again and swooosh!
She felt deflated from within and suddenly lost her balance
Within the twinkle of an eye, she was rolling on the floor
Swooooooosh! Whoosh! Brrrrrrrr
She vomited all over herself
Hands grabbed her and lifted her to her feet
She saw the person walking towards her
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt laid hand on her
He commanded the evil spirit to leave her
She fell again! This time she was relieved
The pain and the anger she had in her spirit disappeared
The weight she had felt in her body for many years was gone
The ushers gave her some water
She cleaned herself up
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt laid hands on her head
He said "Be filled with the Holy Ghost"
He laid his other hand on her tummy
He said "Speak in Jesus name"
She started singing the melodies of heaven!
Hallelujah!

PS: She didn't lose her place as the Head of the prayer team
She grew in the things of the spirit and later became a pastor
There are people seeking for the power of the Holy Spirit in the wrong places
I was once told of Pastors who went to strange places to get power
I laugh at the foolishness of such actions
