The Weak Can't Rule

The Weak Can't Rule

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man (Ephesians 3:14-16).

Once, I was talking to someone who said to me, “I think I’m weak inside.” The reason he thought so was because he realized that in many things in life, he lacked convictions.

He didn’t seem to have the will or courage to stand for anything. When he didn’t like something, he couldn’t resist it, because he had inner fears. But when you know the Holy Spirit, things are different; you’re tough on the inside.

The Holy Spirit’s prayer through Paul for the Church at Ephesus. He prayed that they’d be strengthened with might by the Holy Spirit in their innermost being; He wanted them to have inner strength, because not many are strengthened from within. The same prayer is a great blessing for us today, since it’s the will of God. God wants you to be strengthened with might by the Holy Spirit in your inner man.

You don’t have to pray again that He should strengthen you, or complain about lack of strength; rather, respond to His Word by declaring that you’re strengthened from within!

If you’ve been unable to make serious decisions in life, because of fear and timidity, this is what you need. Stand in front of the mirror, point to the image on the other side and say, “You’re tough inside! You’re courageous, bold and sound! You’re invigorated with miracle-working ability in your inner man.”

Refuse to allow anyone describe you as weak or feeble. Your strength isn’t of this world; it’s from the Spirit who lives in you. Therefore, you’re up to any task; you’re bold and strong inside, because the greater One lives in you.

Someone may ask: "How I can gain back my spiritual strength. This is because I can see that these days I am very weak in the spirit."

The answer is: "That's why He sent us the Holy Spirit so we will not be weak. See, if you have the Holy Spirit, the weakness will not return to you because the Holy Spirit—Jesus said in Acts 1:8, “You shall receive power after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you.”

Now that means that the power we receive—the word "power" is from the Greek word dunamis, and that's where you get the word "dynamo." See, it’s power that is actually endless—it keeps reproducing itself. It may be generated mechanically and produce electrical power, and that electrical power will produce mechanical power, which produces electrical power, and it just goes on and on and on.

And He says this will become inherent in us—that means inside us, continually reproducing itself. So, you never run weak. You never run dry. You never become powerless, so the weakness will not come back anymore.

That's why you need the Holy Spirit. He'll make you powerful all the time—all the time—especially when you pray in the Spirit, which means praying in tongues.

It’s your responsibility to increase the measure of faith God has given to you, and the way to do that is by learning more of God’s Word: “…faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The less of God’s Word you receive into your spirit, the less faith you’ll be able to express when you’re faced with the challenges of life. So, every day, grow your faith by feeding voraciously on God’s Word.

Someone once said, “My faith is very little; that’s why I sometimes feel weak spiritually.” Then grow your faith! That’s your job. Don’t stay at the level of little faith. Little faith exhibits fear and doubt (Matthew 8:26).

In Matthew 14, Simon Peter was walking on water toward Jesus until he saw the winds and waves and began to sink. The Bible says Jesus immediately “…stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” (Matthew 14:31).

Little faith is also carnal or given to carnal reasoning. We see an example of this in Matthew 16:6 when Jesus said to His disciples, “…Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.” The Bible says they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread” (Matthew 16:7). They didn’t understand what Jesus was teaching and thought He meant physical loaves of bread. Jesus perceived their carnal reasoning and said to them, “…O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?” (Matthew 16:8).

When the one with little faith feels discomfort in the stomach, he’s quick to say, “I think it’s because of something I ate or something I drank.” Yet Jesus said, “…and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them…” (Mark 16:18). God wants your faith to be stalwart, not weak, and not little.

Therefore, study and practise the Word of God; that’s how to grow your faith to be strong. Be like the ones described in Thessalonica, whose faith grew exceedingly, and also those in the Faith’s hall of fame (Hebrews 11) who used their faith for exploits.
