Truth Above Sentiment
Love people enough to tell them the truth. It is not love when you enable people to make wrong choices out of sentiment or because of your feelings, especially if you are the parents or relatives of such a fellow.
Women are especially guilty of this, and they should stop it.
They have a child or children who they know are suffering from certain kinds of diseases; instead of containing the gene from spreading, they will be the ones advocating for that child to get married and have children.
They will be running from church to mosque, from pillar to post all in a bid to propagate a defective gene out of sentiment.
Men usually know the truth, that it is not a good idea, but they play along because the women drag them into it.
There is a family in Ifako, the man and his wife had five children. Three of his daughters developed psychosis while they were in secondary school.
In the typical African interpretation of reality, they said it was an evil arrow that was shot at them by their imaginary enemies.
It was not. It was genetic, and it had no cure except by divine intervention. The best thing to do was to contain that gene and not propagate it further.
Naturally, this issue made them leave their traditional church for one of the "Die by Fire" churches, where they curse and shoot imaginary arrows back at imaginary enemies.
The psychosis was seasonal, so whenever it came on the children, they kept them at home, and whenever it lifted, they would bring them to church.
One Sunday, a young IT professional who attends the church saw one of the ladies in church and approached the pastor that he felt led to marry the lady.
The pastor was aware of the mental struggle these ladies had, and he knew they had not been healed. Instead of telling this young man the truth or guiding him away from his misplaced desire, he treated it the way he would treat the issue generally,
He approached the parents of the lady and told them inquiries have been made about marrying her.
Her father said it was a bad idea. Her mother said it was an answered prayer. The world was already mocking her, and this is proof that God answers prayers.
Her daughters will get married and have a good life, to the shame of the enemy. Her father eventually gave in.
The church started the marriage counseling process. The young man and young lady were not allowed to be together so that they wouldn't mistakenly have sex.
The courtship was done under the strict supervision of the pastor and two elders. The young man was sold black market. He got married to the lady, and within three months, she was pregnant
Then her mental illness began to manifest, and they began to gaslight her husband. He was not taking proper care of her
There was an Injection she ought to be taking every month at Yaba left, he opted for prayers instead of taking her to the hospital for the injection
The young man was confused. Nobody told him she had the issue before they got married. When she got pregnant and started manifesting the sickness, he had assumed it was the pregnancy that caused it, and was praying against the power of the enemy. Nobody told him she had a file in a psychiatric hospital
It was at this time that he discovered he had been deceived by the church leadership and the lady's parents.
His mother-in-law said to him; You are not innocent; maybe you did something, or your parents did something that made God give you this as your portion. Do you think we also want this? So don't blame us. Why you? Why did God lead you to her?"
The young man is bitter against the church and Christianity to this day because of this con job that was pulled on him while he was serving God innocently.
He left the country a few months later without telling anyone his whereabouts.
I have also seen cases of mothers who have sons with serious hereditary and genetic diseases going all out to deceive ladies in a bid to get a spouse for such.
They do this brazenly, sometimes using money to entice a lady from a poor background to "manage" their son for them and deliver his children because he must not come to this world in vain
He must have children.
A gene that ought to be contained gets a champion, and most time the champion is a woman.
Do you think it is normal to set a ring light and phone camera to record yourself as a human being with dignity, dancing naked and doing all sorts of whatnot without any sense of shame or propriety?
Parents want the best for their children, even though most times they know they are not giving the suitor the best in return.
A mother marrying a wife for her homosexual son in the name of "get her pregnant and give me the baby to raise" is not only unfair to the lady, it is a form of injustice before God.
It is up to you not to walk into a ditch because you are blinded by looks or emotions.
If you think you are too smitten to see for yourself, ask someone you know and trust to help you investigate the family and the spouse you want to get married to.
Finally, a family had never had a successful marriage in their history. The family has a prominent name, but their daughters just get pregnant, remain single, and become side chicks.
Their sons also get ladies pregnant, have dysfunctional relationships, won't hold down a good job, and would usually stay in their parents' family house without displaying any form of ambition to become someone in life.
Don't marry into this family and start praying that your own will be different. It defeats everything God stands for in the life of a believer. Remember Mario Puzo's The Godfather?
Kate was dating Michael, the Mafia Don's son, who went to school and was never part of his father's business. When pressure came, Michael's genes spoke, and he eventually became the Don of the family.
Genes speak loudly and strongly for those who will pay attention. There is nothing wrong with having normal human desires, like marriage, having children, and so on. There is nothing wrong with telling those who are not fit to have these things the truth instead of trying to accommodate their desires by deceiving others.
We all must do better in this regard.
