The Key To Prosperity

The Key To Prosperity

HOW TO GET IT

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; rich as he was, he made himself poor for your sake, in order to make you rich by means of his poverty.” 2 Corinthians 8:9.

Believe in the superabundance of Jesus Christ. When you study the entire eighth chapter of 2 Corinthians in context, you’d understand that the Apostle Paul was talking about financial and material prosperity.

For our sake, the Lord Jesus Christ laid down His reputation, His riches, His wealth; He laid down everything and identified Himself with us, and took our place. He became us on the Cross.

Everything He did was for your sake. He wasn’t poor, but He became poor for your sake.

In the same way, you weren’t rich, but now through Him, you’ve been made rich, just as in Him you’ve been made righteous.

Until you understand this revelation, you’ll never enter into your wealthy place in God. Your trust shouldn’t be in your family or social background, education, government, society or in the business that you do.

Your trust shouldn’t be in any bank; rather, it should be in the Word, in whom and what Christ has made you. He’s fulfilled His part.

He said, “Behold, here I am, coming to do Your will, O God—[to fulfill] what is written of Me in the volume of the Book” (Hebrews 10:7 AMPC).

He already became poor so that you, through His poverty, might become rich. Now, you’re to step into what He’s done for you and made you. Believe in what He’s done for you, and take advantage of it.

HOW TO KEEP IT GROWING

Take a lesson from the ants, you lazy fellow. Learn from their ways and be wise! For though they have no king to make them work, yet they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter (Proverbs 6:6-8 TLB).

Financial discipline is very important, and it’s something the Spirit of God can train you in. Some don’t realise they’re not supposed to spend everything they get. Simple wisdom is that you spend less than you earn or receive; otherwise, you could end up in debt.

The response of some to this might be, “What I earn isn’t even enough; after doing all the things I need to do, nothing is left.” No, don’t think or talk like that!

First, understand that you’re the seed of Abraham; therefore, your financial prosperity is independent of how much you earn or the economic situation around you.

You’re an heir of God and joint-heir with Christ; you’re plugged to an unending supply. Thus, the idea of cultivating the habit to save isn’t about keeping your money in the bank to accumulate interest; it’s about discipline. Proverbs 21:20 TLB says, “The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.”

You may say, “What’s the essence of saving a small amount; it’s not going anywhere.” Don’t destroy it with your mouth. Never declare that what you have is small or not enough. Money is spiritual; it’s not that coin or note in your pocket, wallet or bank account. Money has ears and can hear you. So you must learn to bless your finances.

The issue isn’t the size of your income, but the size of your mind— your thinking, and what your faith can produce. Think about how much you might have received in the last year; but then, how much of it did you reproduce? If your answer isn’t satisfactory, it’s time for a change.

As long as the things you put money into aren’t such that can reproduce what you put in and more, then there’s a problem, and it’s expedient that you change things.

God’s Word imparts wisdom to you for financial intelligence and discipline. So, study and meditate on the Word more, and you’ll always deal wisely in handling your finances.

And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:29).

2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

What does this mean? First, understand that Jesus was never poor spiritually. Therefore, the foregoing scripture is referring to physical, material, and financial blessings. Jesus became poor for your sake, so that you might inherit abundance.

This is simple to understand in line with the substitutionary works of Christ. God conferred our sins on Jesus on the Cross, and conferred His righteousness on us at His resurrection. Likewise, Jesus took our poverty and made us heirs of His abundance.

All of God’s wealth and resources belong to you because the Bible says, “…if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29). Romans 8:17 says, “And if Children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ….” Read what the Lord said in Haggai 2:8:

“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.” If the silver and gold in the world belong to Him, then they belong to you; believe it, because it’s true.

In Psalm 50:10-12, He said, “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine…for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.”

No wonder He said in 1 Corinthians 3:21, “…all things are yours.” How could anyone read this and still be living poor? You own the world and everything in it; let it dawn on you.
