Leadership is not dictatorship.

Leadership is not dictatorship.

Ploughing yourself forward through everyone else without stopping to consider their opinions or feelings is not masculinity. It’s not leadership. It’s not “being a man.” It’s just being a socially unaware neanderthal.

Leadership is servitude.

Not subordination. Not being below others, but instead, standing behind them to support. Beside them to work together. In front of them to protect.

A well-balanced man who leads in his life does so by understanding and caring for those whom he leads. He doesn’t presume to know everything, doesn’t make himself seem the most important, doesn’t close himself off to new thoughts and ideas.

That isn’t leadership.

A man must maintain the ability to hear the thoughts, feelings, and opinions of others…without judgment.

This goes for his professional life and his personal life. It makes him a better leader, a better friend, and a better romantic partner.

He knows when to lead, and when to hand someone else the reins. Being capable of both is important.
