The Anointing And Your Health II
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (1 Corinthians 6:19).
If you truly believe that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, then that should be the end of sickness or disease in your physical body. You have to consciously meditate on the fact that the Holy Spirit vitally and literally lives in you. He perambulates your body to keep it healthy.
Your health was perfected when Christ took up His abode in you. In Psalm 138:8, the psalmist prophesied, “The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me….” This has become a reality in Christ Jesus. Your health has been perfected in Him. Hallelujah!
Part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in you, and His impact on your physical body, is to see to it that your body stays perfected in health. It’s the reason He guides you to nurture your spirit, soul, and body with the Word. It’s the reason He guides you with wisdom on healthy living.
So, take charge of your health and rule over your body with the Word of God. Refuse to yield to sickness. Divine health is your birthright and nature in Christ. Choose to be healthy and strong every day. Hallelujah!
One of the things the Holy Spirit guides us into the knowledge of is our body and the impact of what we eat on our bodies. Some of us want God to stop us from eating something by making us hate the thing or by making that thing unappealing to us.
I had a conversation with a dear sister a few days ago; she is struggling with obesity, and yet she says she cannot resist junk food. I asked her why she was eating something that was not only making her lose control of her body every day, but had also been instructed by the doctor that she should stop eating. She said, “Something must kill someone; I cannot deny myself the little pleasures of life when all I have is woe and bad news from every corner. If God wants me to stop eating it, God should take the desire for it away from me”.
That is irresponsible behaviour.
Many of us behave that way. We notice that something is not good for our bodies, and yet we indulge in it.
A friend was suffering from hormonal issues, she went to see the doctor, and the doctor specifically told her to stay off Pizza. She stopped eating pizza, and her health was restored.
The anointing is the power of God inside of us, and He tells us what is good for us and what is not. He expects us to obey him too.
What he says is good for you may be what he says is bad for your wife, your pastor, or your best friend. Don’t make a doctrine of it for everybody. Just keep away from it for your own good
It is also good to engage in some form of fasting for the general well-being of the body
Food is a fundamental part of life, providing the body with essential nutrients and energy. But what happens when we deliberately abstain from eating for a period of time? Fasting, an ancient practice, has been observed for religious, cultural, and health reasons for centuries. In contrast to feasting (often associated with indulgence and excess), fasting can offer remarkable benefits to the body and mind. WHAT IS FASTING? Many people mistake fasting for hunger strike.
“Fasting is a spiritual exercise that helps reset the body and soul while building our discipline and focus as individuals.
Fasting isn’t the same as a hunger strike. It’s not about avoiding meals. After all, there are folks who sometimes wouldn’t eat for a long period of time, probably because they’re busy; that doesn’t mean they’re fasting.
Fasting means turning your attention away from food, and turning it to God”. Fasting is the voluntary abstention from food (and sometimes water) for a specific period. It can range from intermittent fasting (such as skipping meals or restricting eating hours) to prolonged fasting lasting several days. TYPES OF FASTING There are several types of fasting, and they include: • Intermittent Fasting (IF): Alternating periods of eating and fasting, such as the 16:8 method (fasting for 16 hours and eating within an 8-hour window). • Water Fasting: Abstaining from all food while consuming only water.
Fruit fasting: Abstaining from food while consuming only a select measure of fruits • Dry Fasting: Avoiding both food and water for a set period. • Time-Restricted Eating: Eating within a specific timeframe each day, such as 10 AM to 6 PM.
- Prolonged Fasting: Going without food for 24 hours or more, sometimes for several days. Just like the one Jesus Christ did in the bible. HEALTH BENEFITS OF FASTING 1. BOOSTS METABOLISM AND PROMOTES WEIGHT LOSS Fasting lowers insulin levels, encouraging the body to burn stored fat for energy. It also increases norepinephrine, a hormone that enhances fat breakdown, making fasting an effective strategy for weight management.
- ENHANCES CELLULAR REPAIR AND LONGEVITY Fasting triggers autophagy, a process where cells remove damaged components and regenerate. This reduces oxidative stress, slows aging, and lowers the risk of diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s.
- IMPROVES BLOOD SUGAR CONTROL AND REDUCES DIABETES RISK By increasing insulin sensitivity, fasting helps regulate blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes. Studies show it can lower blood sugar by 3–6% and insulin levels by 20–31%.
- SUPPORTS HEART HEALTH Fasting improves heart health by lowering LDL ("bad") cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure while reducing inflammation, all of which decrease the risk of heart disease. While fasting offers many health benefits, it may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals such as pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with eating disorders, those with severe diabetes or blood sugar issues, Individuals with low blood pressure, and those taking medications that require food intake, should consult a healthcare provider before fasting.
BALANCING FASTING AND FEASTING Both fasting and feasting have their place in a healthy lifestyle. Fasting provides the body with a reset, while mindful feasting ensures proper nourishment. When breaking a fast, it's important to reintroduce food gradually and choose nutrient-dense meals rich in proteins, healthy fats, and fiber. Fasting is more than just a weight-loss strategy—it’s a powerful tool for improving overall health, from enhancing metabolism and brain function to boosting the immune system and reducing inflammation. By integrating fasting into your routine while maintaining healthy eating habits, you can enjoy the best of both worlds—fasting for renewal and feasting for nourishment.
A believer does not jump into fasting as a form of punishment in order to get God’s mercy (Many people saw David fasting in the Bible after killing Uriah, and they assume fasting is a form of penitence. David fasted to preserve the life of his baby, not because of Uriah).
While fasting, the believer must engage the Holy Spirit in the place of prayer and meditation. Setting the course for his or her life and making decisions that will help him or her live a higher life in Christ and become more established in the faith.
Purge yourself of every unwholesome thought, unforgiveness, negativity, wrong beliefs, guilt, and sin consciousness when you fast. It is not only food and drink that we put into our bodies, and needed to purge out of our system. The contents we read, watch, and think of consistently form an integral part of our whole being, which can affirm who we are in Christ or revert us to our carnal nature and all its attending woes.
